I use flowers as my medium to create designs that represent change or a marker of time in life’s big events & to bring playfulness to everyday life. I believe that the colours, textures & smells help us access our memories & give them depth. The specific scent of a bloom or movement of a flower can instantly transport you back to a meaningful moment & bring a smile to your face. I also believe that flowers are conduits to help us grieve, remember & accept the delicacy of life. Flowers can keep us company, bring comfort, remind us, bring novelty, share beauty or say what we don't have the words to say.

 

The wild northern landscapes inspire me & ground me in my creative practice. My cottage studio overlooks the lake that will always be home for me. I often design to the sound of raindrops on the metal roof, I watch the waves lap the rocky shore & on sunny days, my space is flooded by the light of golden summer sunsets. I love to bring those colours, movements, textures & curiosity to my designs & installations. 

 

An ideal design for me has a few flowers from my own garden, a couple of fun flowers someone else grew & a sprinkling of wildflowers from the woods or the roadside. I use locally grown whenever possible & import specialty items when necessary. Each design is unique for the occasion & takes on a life of its own.
