I take every possible opportunity to work with anything tropical. As a girl from the far north at first I wasn't comfortable with the strange shapes and bright colours. I didn't know how to mix them and I found them intimidating.
A few years after I had finish Floral School I worked a job with a designer whose passion and speciality were tropicals. After lots if watching him work and my own practice he taught me his philosophy. I learned to not be afraid of negative space, to break the rule of odd numbers, to not over think colour and most importantly to go with the peesonality of each bloom. Most tropical blooms have a very unique shape, twist or bend to them.
Now when I start a design I try to listen to that personality instead of fighting it. Each unique element should be highlighted not conformed.
Welcome to my muses & adventures in the world of flowers & design.
