I would consider myself a non-traditional person in design and in life. I shy away from the idea of fitting into someone else's expectations.
When I first began designing I turned away from tradition as much as possible and made everything as unique as I could. I still do most days but I am also learning to appreciate the beauty of the expected. It's the same as when we wait for an unborn baby or an exciting event there is nothing quite as sweet as when that moment arrives and it's just as wonderful as you hoped.
Some things are popular favourites because they are consistently beautiful. I am always disappointed when people hate on carnations and roses because they are common. If you look closely into the petals and see the flower with new eyes I can't imagine anyone not loving it.
On that note I admit to not enjoying sympathy design as much as other events but I am trying to see each piece with fresh eyes and inspiration. My lifelong design challenge!
